1. In June 1998, TD-SCDMA drafted by China Academy of Telecommunication Technology (Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group), was proposed to the international telecommunication union (ITU).
2. In May 2000, TD-SCDMA, proposed by Chinese government, was approved by ITU as one of the 3G mobile communication standards, which is regarded as a historic breakthrough in China telecommunication industry.
3. In March 2001, TD-SCDMA was formally accepted by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
4. In March 2002, Datang Mobile Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. Was established, announcing that TD-SCDMA goes all round to industrialization process.
5. On October 23, 2002, the Ministry of Information Industry announced the TDD spectrum layout for 3G and allocated totally 155MHz none-symmetrical spectrum for TD-SCDMA.
6. On October 30, 2002, TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance was formally established.
7. The new recruit joining ceremonies of TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance were conduced in December 2003, April 2005, October 2005, April 2006, November 2006, June 2007, November 2007, July 2008 and December 2008 respectively. At present, there are 65 members in TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance. A complete and mature multi-vendor environment was formed.
8. On April 2005, TD-LTE was first made proposal in China.
9. In June 2005, TD-SCDMA special tests were completed on scheduled, and the state authority department announced that TD-SCDMA has the capability for large scale network construction, which has shown that the technical performance and operation value of TD-SCDMA had stood the test.
10. In January 2006, the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (MII) announced that TD-SCDMA becomes China national technology standard for the telecommunication industry.
11. In March 2006, TD-SCDMA large scale network technology application tests were launched by MII. The three major operators, China Mobile, China Netcom, and China Telecom carried out the tests in Shanghai, Beijing, Baoding, Xiamen and Qingdao respectively.
12. On October 2006, IMT-Advanced Work Group submitted the technical evolution proposal to ITU.
13. In March 2007, the TD-SCDMA network technology application tests have been carrying out in a wider scope, TD trial networks were planned to be deployed in 10 major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Qinghuangdao, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Baoding,
14. On November 2007, the LTE TDD fusion technology program was signed by 27 companies on 3GPP RAN151 meeting, and its frame structure was identified based on the frame structure of TD-SCDMA. It opens the door for TD-SCDMA to evolve towards TD-LTE and 4G mainstream standards.
15. TD-SCDMA trial use has been formally launched in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Qinhuangdao on Apr 1st 2008. TD-SCDMA as an international 3G standard is facing its trial commercial use after 8 years struggle.
16. In Aug to Sep 2008, TD-SCDMA successfully served the Olympics. China Mobile has provided 100,000 unites TD-SCDMA handsets to security, protection, health care, media crews and other Olympic staff and workers.
17. In Sep 2008, China Mobile communications corporation issued the public bidding for TD-SCDMA second phase network construction project and confirmed TD-SCDMA network coverage will be expanded to 38 cities.
18. By the end of September 4 of 2008, There are 45 TD-SCDMA terminals (including TD-HSDPA data cards) from 22 terminal vendors got Ministry of Industry and information Technology issued network access license, and there are 6 infrastructure equipment vendors got network access license for TD-HSDPA equipment.
19. On October 2008, International Communications Exhibition Beijing first demonstrate the key technology of TD-LTE.
