Datang Telecom announced Tuesday that it has completed upgrading China Mobile's TD-SCDMA networks in Shanghai and Guangzhou to utilize HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packages Access). Datang Mobile executed the upgrades as part of China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network upgrade project. The company said testing of the upgraded networks went well, and that high quality voice communication can now be ensured in the two cities' metros and public areas.
China Mobile had planned to have all TD-SCDMA networks upgraded in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qinhuangdao, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Xiamen by the end of May. However, only upgrade work by Putian on portions of the networks in Tianjin and Qinhuangdao was completed on schedule.

China Unveils Long-Awaited Shake-Up of Telecom Industry
Tuesday, 27 May 2008 00:00
online.wsj.com
BEIJING -- China unveiled plans for a long-awaited shake-up of its huge telecommunications sector that could enhance competition among its carriers and, eventually, lead to billions of dollars in new contracts for global wireless equipment companies. The restructuring, announced Saturday after years of preparation, will reshape China's telecom industry, one of the world's most lucrative with total revenue last year of 728 billion yuan ($104.85 billion). It will meld six main state-owned telecom companies into three full-service carriers offering both fixed-line and wireless service nationwide. That will mean two more robust rivals for China Mobile Ltd., the world's biggest wireless carrier with about 400 million subscriber accounts, which now dominates its sole wireless competitor.

Trial use of TD in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Tianjin I received five mobile phone models early this year, including ZTE U80 TD/GSM double-mode and single-standby model, ZTE U980 TD/EDGE double-mode and double-standby model, Samsung T578 TD/GSM double-mode and double-standby model, Longcheer TD290 TD/GSM double-mode and single-standby model and Yulong 6260 TD/GSM double-mode and double-standby model. Because the USIM card supplied with T578 model was unable to connect to Internet in Guangzhou, it was replaced by a USIM card (phone number: 15710702091) for network construction testing provided by East Compeace on March 10. Then the trial use in Guangzhou and Shenzhen started and lasted till end of March. The trial use is summarized below: 1. Ordinary phone: From March 10 to 22, over times calls were made with this mobile phone to GSM mobile phones, CDMA mobile phones, phones in little smart system or regular phones in Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai from Guangzhou or via Shenzhen TD network. The communication time varied from 12 seconds to 43 minutes and all had clear voice.

Anritsu introduces complete TD-SCDMA test solution for network deployment, installation, and maintenance
Tuesday, 20 May 2008 00:00
Ednasia
Anritsu Company introduces three new options that make its award-winning BTS Master and Spectrum Master families the first complete TD-SCDMA handheld test solutions for deploying, installing, and maintaining TD-SCDMA networks now being deployed in China. With the options, field engineers, technicians, and contractors can accurately, quickly and easily make RF, demodulation, and Over-the-Air (OTA) measurements on TD-SCDMA signals. The TD-SCDMA RF Measurement option offers a suite of test tools, including channel spectrum and power vs. time. The channel spectrum view shows the shape of the transmitter and displays the signal's channel power and occupied bandwidth. In addition, it displays the channel power and occupied bandwidth of the left and right channels. A power vs. time view displays the power over one frame of the signal, or can zoom into a slot selected by the user. In the frame view, individual slot powers are also displayed. Numerical results displayed include channel power, UpPTS (Uplink) power, DwPTS (Downlink) power, ON/OFF ratio, slot peak-to-average ratio and the Downlink – Uplink delta) power.
