During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the CMMB mobile phones have under great expectation for its largest market in the telecom industry. The entrance of CMMB seems uncertain without MIIT’s permission. Now, the cooperation between TD and CMMB technologies could bring  huge opportunities to the CMMB cellphones.

According to CMCC’s planning, TD-SCDMA network will cover 238 cities after the 3rd phase bidding has been finished. This time procured equipments mainly used on 200 cities, plus the 38 cities’ TD-SCDMA equipments procured in previously two phase bidding, TD-SCDMA network will be available in totally 238 cities.

"In the future market, it is likely to have only two types of CPU - ARM and Intel." President of ARM China, Tan Jun said, with the integration of internet and communications industry, ARM and Intel will inevitably have to battle in the same field. But previously, ARM is provider of communications engine, and Intel is the heart of IT industry, the two companies go along respective fields. 

May 17 2009, Special incentive financing for TD-SCDMA terminal R&D project co-signing ceremony was held in Beijing, CMCC together with 9 terminal manufacturers and 3 chipset venders, signed the co-operation agreement on "Joint R&D". This time CMCC will invest RMB 600 million yuan (roughly US$88 million), plus the investment from other co-operation partners. Totally more than RMB 1200 million yuan (roughly US$176 million) to be poured into TD-SCDMA terminal industry chain.
